Create a New Web Site from Scratch

 

1. If it is not already open, Open WebExpress. Now click on File, New Web Site.

2. The New Web Site Wizard will open...

3. Select "Create a New Site From Scratch" and click Next.

4. You will be asked to name your web site, enter what you would want your URL address to be. Click Next.

5. You will now be asked to name the folder (directory) in which your Web Pages will be stored. Click Next.

6. The page backgrounds section of the Wizard asks you what color you would like the background of your site to be. You can also specify an image if you have one you are partial to on you hard drive. If you decide to change the background for the whole site later, you can do so. The process will be described later on. Click Next.

7. This box allows you to set the Hyperlink and Default text colors for your site. Generally people keep these colors at deault, unless they have a certain color scheme in mind for their site. Select colors in each box by clicking on the down arrow and clicking on the color you like. Again, these colors can be changed after you start your site. Click Next.

8. The Web Site Properties box allows you to set the different case sensitivity options for your site, unless you are an advanced user of WebExpress keep the URL settings in their defualt setup. Click Next.

9. This is the File Transfer Options screen. You will be asked to enter to contact information for the publishing of your site. If you do not know what to enter here, please call your ISP (Internet Service Provider). If you have not set up an ISP web hosting account, you can skip this step and enter the information when you are ready to publish your site. Click Next.

10. Now you will be asked to name your Web Site File. This is the file that represents all pages of your site. A WEBSITE file is different from a WEBPAGE file, so please name the WebSite file somthing representative of the site. Click Finish.

11. Your new site will now be created, it will consist of only one page, index.htm.

12. Doubleclick on index.htm and begin editing it.
