How to start page numbering on a different page?

If you want to start page numbering from a specific page, for example beginning on page 2 and continuing to the end of the document you need to create a chapters break. To do so:

  1. Place the cursor at the top of that page where you want to start with the page number 1. Use 'Chapter Break' from the Insert/Break menu.

  2. Create a Header or Footer via the Insert menu

  3. Select Insert Filed from the Insert menu

  4. Choose 'Page' from the Field Type list

  5. Click OK

If you want to start page numbering on page 2 starting with #1 you have to do two more steps:

  1. Place the cursor outsite the footer and select Chapter from the Format menu

  2. Set the Page Number you want to start with in the Page Number option

  3. Click OK

Notes: You can also use this technique to use Roman Numerals on preliminary pages, and then use normal numbering for the body of the document.
