How to create Footnotes/Endnotes?

Footnote references can be automatically numbered (1,2,3 etc.), or you can choose special or non-alphanumeric characters.

To insert a footnote:

  1. Place the cursor where you want the footnote reference to appear.

  2. Select Footnote from the Insert menu. The Insert Footnote dialog box appears.

  3. Click the Auto Numbered option of you want footnote references to be automatically numbered starting with 1. Click the Custom option if you want the footnote to be referenced with a different character.

  4. Click the Options button to specify any special footnote options (e.g. restart with 1 on each page, or start at a specific number etc.).

  5. Click OK

  6. Type your footnote text.

To insert an endnote:

  1. Select 'Footnote' from the 'Insert' menu

  2. Click the 'Options' button to specify any special footnote options.

  3. Choose under 'Position' an option to instruct WordExpress where to place the footnotes. There are three choices: at the bottom of the page where the footnote was inserted, at the end of the chapter, or at the end of the document.
