How do I double space text?

Double spacing (or space between lines) is controled on a paragraph basis. To add extra space between lines:

  1. Highlight the text which you would like to appear double-spaced.

  2. Select Paragraph from the Format menu.

  3. Use 200% in the Line Spacing option which produces double spaced text. Using 150% produces 1 and 1/2 line spacing. You can also enter any percentage to precisely control the spacing!

  4. Click OK!

If you want to double space the entire document, choose Select All from the Edit menu (Ctrl-A) for Step 1 above.

Notes: The following shortcut keys will also change the line spacing:

    Ctrl-1  Single Spacing (100%)
    Ctrl-2  1 1/2 Spacing (150%)
    Ctrl-3  Double Spacing (200%)

You can also customize your Speed Tool bar to include buttons for these three spacing options.
