How to create Links

Local Links

A local link is one that when clicked, takes the user to a page or bookmark on the current website (the one you’re working on).

To add a local page link to a web page:

  1. Select the text or graphic you want to associate with the link.

  2. Click the Hyperlink tool on the toolbar.

  3. Click the Local Page tab in the dialog box if it’s not already, then select a page from the list (this list comprises pages that have already been linked somewhere on your site), or click the File button to choose an HTML document file.

  4. Click OK

External Links

An external link is one that when clicked takes the user to a page or file outside the current website, for example, to another website.

To add an external page link to a web page:

  1. Select the text or graphic you want to associate with the link

  2. Click the Hyperlink tool on the toolbar

  3. Click the WWW URL tab in the dialog box, then select one of the URLs from the list (this list contains URLs that you have already linked to elsewhere in your site), or type the URL in the URL field.

  4. Click OK

E-mail Links

An e-mail link is one that when clicked opens the user’s e-mail program, creates a new e-mail message, and inserts whatever e-mail address you specify into his or her “To:” field automatically.

To add an e-mail link to a web page:

  1. Select the text or graphic that you want to associate with the link

  2. Click the Hyperlink tool on the toolbar

  3. Click the E-Mail Address tab on the dialog box, then select one of the e-mail addresses in the list (the list contains e-mail address you’ve already linked to), or type an e-mail address in the field of the same name.

  4. Click OK.
