#01-008 Controlling the width and size of cells This is a problem, in that Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer treat cell widths differently. Here is a good way to control tables: There is a file which is included in WebExpress called, "trans.gif". c:\ProgramFiles\mvapps\websites\mvtemp\images\trans.gif If you create a table with a variable width by clicking the Percent or Pixel checkboxes twice (the numbers will go to zero), you can control the width using the transparent gif file. Since it is transparent, it will not interfere with any colors you may have specified, and since it is so small, it downloads very quickly. Plus, all browsers (and WebExpress) honor the width you set it to. To do this, go to Insert > Image, and before you press OK, press the Properties tab and change the image size % to 900 or so. Trans.gif is a single pixel gif file, so it is very hard to click on if you insert it at normal size. Cut the image to the clipboard and insert it at the top of the table. Stretch out the gif to the width you would like the cell to be. |
